Feng Pao Hsii

Feng Pao Hsii Scholarship Fund

This year the Singapore Society of Rheumatology will be establishing the Feng Pao Hsii Scholarship Fund for rheumatology training.

We are writing to seek your generous donation for the fund which will be solely dedicated to support two awards:

  1. Feng Pao Hsii-Singapore Society of Rheumatology-Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (FPH-SSR-APLAR) Fellowship Grant
  2. Feng Pao Hsii (FPH) Educational Grant

Professor Feng Pao Hsii

Professor Feng Pao Hsii is widely recognized as the Father of Rheumatology in Singapore. He was the founding Head of the first Department of Rheumatology and Immunology in Singapore at TTSH. He also developed Paediatric Rheumatology in the mid-1990s which is now widely practiced in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the National University Hospital. He was also a teacher, researcher and visionary medical leader. The SSR wishes to remember Professor Feng by inaugurating a scholarship fund in his name.

The FPH-SSR-APLAR Fellowship Grant

The Fellowship Grant enables young rheumatologists from the Asia Pacific region, with preference to those from developing countries, to be exposed to the practice of our discipline in Singapore. The aim of the Fellowship is to encourage sharing of best practices, development of new skills, and future international collaboration. In addition to training, this Fellowship provides incentive for the candidate to conduct a research project and to publish his or her work.

SSR will provide the following:

  • USD 14,000 per fellow for a six-month fellowship per year.
  • Maximum of USD 3,000 per Fellow to present their research findings at a regional conference.
  • Up to USD 750 for publishing an original article in a Medline-listed journal arising from the training.
