The Singapore Society of Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology (SSIAR, forerunner of the SSR) inaugurated the Feng Pao Hsii Lecture in July 2000 in his honour.

Introduction

Professor Feng (1936-2015) who served as the president of our Society from 1981 to 1993, occupies a unique position in Singapore rheumatology .  He not only launched the discipline in our country, but was a model rheumatologist, a pathbreaker in research, a clinician with  impeccable  acumen and a broad-minded administrator . His friendly personality made him many friends in the rheumatology world  and he is seen as  synonymous with Singapore rheumatology.

Professor Feng established the first Department of Rheumatology in Singapore at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in 1985. As a result of his tireless efforts in grooming the initial critical mass of trained rheumatologists, this specialty service is now available in all SIngapore government hospitals and in the private sector. 

The Lecturers who hail from around the world are among the Who’s Who in Rheumatology. . Our Society will endeavour to uphold this excellent tradition of inviting renowned  rheumatologists to talk about a subject in their field of interest .
